Help CP Teens UK to deliver 'help, hope, inspiration & friendship'
Chit & Chat volunteer
We are looking for volunteers to support the running of CP Teens UK's 'Chit & Chat' sessions!
These sessions are virtual, informal 1 hour social sessions for youngsters with Cerebral Palsy/physical disabilities.
The sessions are very popular & well-attended with youngsters joining in UK wide. It is very informal, full of chat & laughs, and it is great to watch the confidence of many youngsters grow.
Volunteers wouldn't need to help at every session (fortnightly) if they didn't want to or couldn't, and a rota can be drawn up in advance if preferred. All you need is a computer/laptop, wifi, and a webcam, i.e. it can be done from the comfort of your sofa!
CP Teens UK is unique in its approach that we are 'for young people, by young people', so we are looking for individuals with a young outlook as well as a chatty, friendly & empathetic personality.
Training will be provided, which will include sitting in on sessions. You would never be asked or required to run sessions alone. This is a great opportunity for students, especially those studying health, social care, OT, physio etc.
All volunteers must be 18+, willing to undergo a DBS check, and fulfil the following:
-
Hold Grade C or equivalent GCSE English & Maths
-
Undertake full safeguarding training, independently be able to identify safeguarding risks, fully understand the CP Teens UK safeguarding policy document & pass a safeguarding knowledge test to obtain a certificate
-
Have excellent verbal & written communication skills and be able to lead & facilitate conversation
-
