Trying to open a packet of Rolos ... it's not quite happening!
So, as I begin to write this blog post, I am trying to open a packet of Rolos for me to munch on as I type. However, I think the chocolate is melting faster than I am opening them! One of the most annoying things about having virtually no hand function is when unopened chocolate becomes involved; there's a unopened chocolate bar on your desk and that moment of happiness where you're like 'oh my god, yesssss, chocolateeee!', and then ... you can't get into it! Fantastic! By the time I get into it, it's just one big chocolate puddle and I look a bit like a 2-year-old that has just helped themselves to a chocolate fountain!
I'm going to be honest, this past week I've not really done anything interesting, so I've not got much to blog about!
March 1st - March 31st 2014 is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, and there is clearly little awareness as I didn't even know it was CP Awareness Month myself! For each day of CP Awareness Month, I am tweeting a fact about my Cerebral Palsy on the CP Teens UK Twitter. I'm sure that most of you already follow CP Teens UK on Twitter, but if you don't, you can follow on @CPTeensUK. Even if you don't have Twitter yourself, you can click on the link and see what is being said! I will also include all 31 facts in the blog post at the end of the month.
Next week, I am going to attempt yet again to get my insoles sorted. I am going to the GP to ask for help; as I've said before, when I used to have insole appointment in the Children's Department, you literally had everyone under the sun turn up for the appointment, but most importantly, your physio who actually knew exactly what was needed. As soon as I turned 16, I was discharged from Children's Services (even though I was still in school and 2 years off officially becoming an 'adult'!), and this meant that all those people and professionals that had me for 16 years in the Children's Department disappeared over night ... because of course, my Cerebral Palsy also disappeared over night! So, I don't know what powers the GP will have and whether he'll be able to refer me somewhere or to someone, but it's worth a shot!
I've now had my official invite from British Athletics for the Team GB Talent Day and my Classification, which is in Manchester later this month. I keep having bets with my coach as to what classification I am going to be; being classified just means that I will be assessed by British Athletics and I will be given a letter (T for 'TRACK' and F for 'FIELD') and a number which puts me into a certain group of athletes so when it comes to competing, we all have the same level of disability! Oooh, and, I've just got into the Rolos! ... I wouldn't be very romantic if I was trying to impress someone with my 'last rolo' would I?! 'I saved my last rolo for you! ... but, you're going to have to get it yourself!'
